Here is a video demonstration of the equipment ones needs to set up their dye station at home. All of this can be easily put onto a rolling cart and rolled way when not in use if you are short on space,

Equipment needed for beginner class.

Here is a list of things I give to students in my beginner class and it will help you see what we use. Other than the Wooly Mason Jar Color Wheel Dye kit most things are ordinary household items.

Individual Materials List:

1 Wooly Mason Jar Color Wheel (warm) cards

1 each of Pro Chem acid dyes

bright red 351

national blue 425

golden yellow 199

chestnut brown 560

charcoal grey 670

black 672

1 precision jewellers scale for measuring grams and part grams (.01g) with weigh boats

1 set of measuring ladles 1/8 tsp. to 1 Tbsp

1 OXO top view 2 cup measure

6 4 cup measuring cups from dollar store

1 small spoon for measuring dye

2-4 plastic chop sticks or something similar for stirring

12 2 cup mason jars labeled for storing solution

8 4 cup/quart wide mouth mason jars for dyeing in

1 old large towel

2 yards Dorr natural wool

2 skeins natural wool yarn

1 notebook

1 heavy rubber gloves for handling hot wool

1 set of tongs

1 plastic container, shoebox size for dyeing larger sizes

1 electrical tape white at least. I use red, yellow and blue as well. This tape is waterproof.

1 dust mask

1 vinyl gloves

1 apron

1 microwave big enough to hold large mason jars and large plastic container

1 2-3 gallon bucket/pail for soaking wool

1 small container Woolite soap or blue Dawn dish soap or synthropol soaking agent

1 electric kettle

1 drying rack for wet wool

1 piece of plastic at least 1 metre square for surface protection (doggie pad, tyvek)

1 stapler and staples

1 recipe cards

1 clothespins

2 old rubber/plastic placemats to cut up for jar covers in microwave

1 paper towel or preferably a big Shamwow....love these they save the use of paper towel.
